An old house in Vestal.
A quiet Knoxville institution.
Harry Allen opened the shop in 1996 in a small house on Chapman Highway, back when homebrewing in East Tennessee mostly meant knowing a guy who knew a guy. He built it into the place where you could actually get straight answers.
When Harry passed in 2014, Deanna Pierce — who'd been working alongside him for years — took the shop on. Same location, same shelves, same approach: tell the truth, don't sell somebody something they don't need, help them make something they're proud of.
The resident cat still runs the place, mostly from the top of the grain sacks. Bring your questions, your last batch's gravity readings, or just yourself. We'll talk.
